What is a warm roof conservatory?
It's your existing conservatory with a proper roof. We take off the old glazed or polycarbonate roof and fit a lightweight Supalite tiled system on your existing frames, finished with a plastered ceiling inside. The room you have becomes a room you actually use.
Why is my conservatory freezing in winter and too hot in summer?
Most older conservatories were built with a thin glass or polycarbonate roof. That roof is the biggest surface in the room, and it does very little to hold heat in or keep the sun out. So from October to March the room is too cold to sit in, and by June it's like a greenhouse.
The result is the same in homes right across Chelmsford, Brentwood, Billericay, Basildon and Colchester: the conservatory turns into a storage room, you heat a space you can't use, and the rain on the roof is loud enough to drown out the TV.

How does a Supalite warm roof go on?
Supalite is a lightweight, modular tiled roof system. Its rafter, hip and eaves beams are mechanically fixed together, so the weight is carried down through the structure in a controlled way. Here's how we fit one, step by step:
Free survey: we measure up and check your existing frames and base.
Written quotation and contract: everything in writing before any work starts.
Old roof removed: glass or polycarbonate taken away, with all waste removed free.
Eaves (ring) beam: fitted on top of your existing frames to carry the new roof.
Wall plate: fixed to the house wall where the roof meets your home.
Rafters, hips and insulation: the frame goes up and is insulated.
Lightweight Supalite tiles: laid on top, with new gutters.
Plastered ceiling: finished inside, ready for spotlights if you want them.
Should I upgrade to triple glazing at the same time?
If you want the warmest room possible, yes. The law asks for a window U-value of 1.4 (the lower the number, the less heat escapes). Every Eco window is 1.2 as standard with double glazing, and our triple glazing upgrade takes it down to 0.8.

Pair a warm roof with 0.8 triple-glazed windows and you have about as warm a conservatory as you can get.

If you want the warmest result, it's worth it. Our standard double glazing is 1.2 U-value, better than the 1.4 legal limit, and our triple glazing upgrade brings it down to 0.8.
